Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future following a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
