It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
