The Streaming Giant Casts Ideal Performer for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Third Season
The Secret Organization is geared up to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t take place until the third season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.
The platform declared this week that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Mr. 2. This character has the ability to morph into an exact copy of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will play a version of that character re-envisioned as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the live-action series, differing from the original manga and cartoon version.
The new cast member will work alongside several other fresh additions tasked with bringing the group to life, such as head Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the well-known actor, a talented actress as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.
Though the role is a major member of the organization, the character won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. With the second season set to cover the Little Garden storyline, this represents a major departure in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest additional alterations to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the character. In addition to their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.
Netflix's live-action One Piece program is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
