Trump Calls Loved Ones of Shot Military Personnel to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Response

Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to assist policing efforts in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her alma mater, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Revisions

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy prompted the government to halt asylum applications and cease issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on a news show that she also intended to speak to the family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
